Ontex owns a 100% interest in a mining concession,
totaling 80 hectares (200 acres) in Barraute
Township, in the Val d’Or district of Quebec.
It is referred to as the Bartec property and
is accessed by road 64 km north of the City
of Val d’Or and is also crossed by the Canadian
National Railway.
The Bartec property is underlain by Archean
rocks of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt. The
south part of the concession is underlain
by intermediate to mafic volcanic rocks,
and the north part by felsic to intermediate
pyroclastic rocks and diorite. Gold occurs
with sulphides in quartz veins emplaced
within the northwest trending Bartec Fault.
Previous work on the Bartec property includes
geology and geophysical surveys and diamond
drilling. A mineral inventory on the Quebec
Government geoscientific compilation map shows
90,720 probable (indicated) tons, grading
0.33 ounces of gold per ton (11.4 g/t).
